When a gate motor fails, the whole rhythm of your property stops. You can't leave for work, the domestic can't get in, and the security you rely on is suddenly a liability. Our repair service exists for exactly that moment: a real technician, in a stocked vehicle, at your driveway inside the hour.
Symptoms we repair every day
Most gate motor faults trace back to one of a handful of predictable failures. A gate that won't open or close is often a blown fuse on the control board, a tripped safety beam, or a 12V backup battery that has quietly died over months of load-shedding. A motor that hums but doesn't move usually points to a seized gearbox, a sheared pinion, or a bind on the sliding gate rack.
Remotes that stop working are almost never a coincidence. Either the receiver has drifted out of code, the transmitter battery has flattened, or moisture has corroded the coding pins. A gate that opens halfway and then stops is usually a limit-switch miscalibration or the current-sensing on the board tripping because the mechanical load has increased.
If you're seeing any of these symptoms, the fastest path to a working gate is a proper on-site diagnosis. Book a callout on our contact page or call us directly.
How we diagnose the fault
A proper diagnosis is where most repairs are won or lost. We start with the electrics — checking mains supply, the transformer output, backup battery voltage under load, and every fuse on the control board. Only then do we look at the board itself: LED indicators, safety-beam inputs, remote-receiver signal, and current draw from the motor when it tries to run.
The mechanical side gets the same attention. We test the manual release, check that the gate rolls freely on its wheels, inspect the rack for wear or bent teeth, and confirm the pinion is properly engaged. Nine times out of ten, an 'electrical' fault turns out to be a mechanical bind that has been silently overloading the motor for weeks.

Brands and parts we stock
We work on every major brand — Centurion (D5, D10, D3, XTrac), ET Nice, Gemini, Hansa, DTS and BFT — with genuine replacement parts stocked on the van.
For Centurion, we carry D5-Evo boards, D10 boards, XTrac boards, capacitors, gearbox oil, worm-drive gearboxes, and factory-original remotes. For ET Nice we stock Drive 500 and Drive 1000 boards and receivers. Gemini and Hansa boards, keypads and beam sets are also on the van.
Because we stock the parts, most repairs are completed in a single visit. No 'we'll come back next week' — that's not a repair, that's a delay dressed up as one.

Emergency and after-hours callouts
Gate motors don't fail politely at 10am on a Tuesday. They fail on Sunday nights, during storms, and in the middle of load-shedding. Our emergency repairs line is staffed 24/7, and there is no premium for weekend or after-hours work on standard repairs.
If your gate is stuck open — leaving your property unsecured — we treat it as a security-critical callout and prioritise the dispatch. Phone us, and stay on the line while the technician confirms an ETA.
When repair becomes replacement
Sometimes a repair is genuinely the wrong answer. A 15-year-old motor on its third board, with a corroded gearbox and no more spare parts in the country, is a candidate for replacement — not another patch. We tell you that honestly, and we quote the alternative on the same visit.
New installations are covered under gate motor installation, and if you're modernising the whole system you may also want to look at gate automation and access control.
Areas we cover for repairs
We service the full northern Johannesburg belt — Sandton and its suburbs, Randburg, Midrand and Centurion. Suburb-specific pages list nearby landmarks and typical response times.
If you're outside these areas but close to the boundary, phone anyway — we frequently extend to neighbouring suburbs when a technician is already in the region.
