A post that has leaned slightly drops the far edge of the gate by a great deal more. The gate starts catching the ground, or the two leaves stop meeting, and the arm takes the load for a while before something cracks.
Adjusting the arm to force a dropped gate through its arc is the common wrong repair. Resetting the post costs more on the day and is the only version that lasts.
Narrow driveways and beam placement
Wendywood driveways are modest, which puts safety beams close to where cars pass.
The result is a recurring fault: beams clipped by wing mirrors, knocked slightly out of alignment, and a gate that reverses at the same point with nothing visible in the way. Mounting the beams slightly higher and further back, where the geometry allows, ends a fault that otherwise returns every few months.
